So as part of this project i had a session with the tutor for the makers and with the makers where they spoke through and broke down each individual garments into sections to understand how they would make the garment.
This was something that I had never seen before and found incredibly interesting as it made me think about past designs and how I could apply this new knowledge from seeing how the makers work to my designs. I intend to apply this when I design to focus on design lines and not only on how the garment will look aesthetically but how it will be constructed in the end.
In this meeting I was working as the designers eyes as she could not attend. this meant that I had to fully understand her vision and how she wants the final outcome to look. I was nervous about this as I was making decisions for someone else which I don’t usually do. However, I re read her process document and had her designs by me with notes we had made together so that I knew what I was saying was the right thing.
I found having this level of responsibility new and a task that I had to commit to 100% I was able to be confident in my answers and knowledge and felt like i succeeded at conveying notes and thoughts effectively. However i do have a tendency to over describe and wffle on so I will try and be more concise next time.
