Major Project: Initial Designs

One of my goals for major project whilst working on Lysistrata was to practice drawing drape and making the fabric have movement to it. That is partly why I chose Lysistrata as it consists of lots of lightweight flowing fabric which I will need to draw effectively.

I started to develop this skill by tracing and drawing the statues from the time period as I was able to look at the folds and drape that are carved into the stone. This allowed my to get used to the motion of drawing fabric that gives the effect of movement and to see how the fabric falls and brushes the body in different places. This is my first time trying to utilize this skill and improve upon drawing drape. this is a skill that I do definitely need to improve for industry and to help further convey my ideas clearly.

Using drape as a key part of my designs has definitely helped my drawing ability further and has made me a better designer as I am now more aware of how important it is for fabric to fall in the right way for my ideas to be conveyed effectively.
