Major Project: Preparing For Fittings

During the process of getting to filming the Dance Film a key part that has to take place is the fittings. Over the last couple of weeks the design team has been working on getting everything prepared and ready for the fittings. I have not had any experience for preparing for a full formal fitting before so I am quite nervous and a bit apprehensive for how they will go.

However during the process of preparing for the fittings I have learnt a lot of new skills and how to implement some of my own developed skills to make the fittings the best they can. I have learnt how important communication is whilst preparing for fittings as I have to be in touch with the makers, design team and the dancers for the fittings to run smoothly and for everyone to know where they need to be and what to bring.

One thing that has helped me massively to cope with this organisation that I need to do, is to write down daily to do lists and refer to my timetable. Both of these organistaional tools have helped me to grow my supervisory skills and develop a more professional way of communicating the plans for the fittings to the individual groups of people.

My lead supervisor has also helped me with how I organise information and prioritise for fittings in a professional capacity. Which is a new skill which I know I will need to implement and use in my future. I have found that working in a team and sharing the amount of work between us has also been greatly beneficial to us all as team and helps with making sure we have everything by deadlines.

Having a team has made me realise the importance of working together and has also helped me with taking greater responsibilities and trusting others to do their jobs fully and to their best ability as well. again this is a really important lesson that will definitely serve me well in industry and make me a better designer all round as I now have an understanding of the supervisors role and how they work.
