Major Project: Fittings

As part of this project I was part of organising and running the fittings. This is a new role for me and something that I had not done before so I was initially slightly apprehensive and nervous. However, once starting and getting into the fitting my nerves left and I felt confident in my role.

For the first day of fittings I was taking notes for the makers remotely on a zoom call. this was a real glimpse to me at what it is like to both be a designer and a supervisor when in a fitting and how important our roles as supervisors is to note down all the correct information in a quick and concise manner. this is a skill that will definitely be useful when in industry and having done the notes remotely is another helpful preparation for working in Covid guidelines.

On the second day I was a dresser. this was also a completely new role to me and something that I knew would be useful to know in the future. I found how important it is to make the model, dancer or actor feel comfortable, safe and reassure them about the costume so they feel at ease. I would maybe not have thought about how important this is prior too being in this role. Using this fitting etiquette in practice was very helpful in preparing me for what is to come when in industry and a vital skill needed for my future profession.
