During the dance film I have also had to recap my sewing skills and practice my sewing abilities to a high standard in order to alter and further some of the waistcoats. I assisted the making tutor by finishing off one of the waistcoats.

I was tasked with doing the bones and eyelets, binding the armholes and finishing off the draped skirt. this was a a really great refresher of several skills that I had not used for a long time. these are invaluable skills that I will definitely use in the industry.
I did have a couple issues due to working with a a silk fabric and making bias binding from it. looking back adding stay flex would have helped make the fabric stiffer and easier to bind the armholes with. this is something I didn’t think of until after so this is a really great learning note for me to bear in mind in the future.

I also did another alteration to waistcoat 10 where I was tasked with making a ruffle to attach round the Center front and neckline. this was using another difficult fabric; organdie which I found I needed to double pin in order to keep it in place whilst sewing it together. Using this method is another skill that will be useful in the future. Making this ruffle was also a great way for me to refresh myself on my hand stitching and the best ways to attach aspects of a garment together.
